"Still"

When Julie, WCF's IVCF staff member (and now area director as well) came back from China this spring, after her trip to make arrangements for the summer Global Project in Xining, she brought back a chorus she had learned there. She reported that it had become a favorite of Christians in Asia after the tsunami. We sang it this morning in our worship service, and it was so fitting in wake of everything that happened this week in New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast and in wake of a tragedy closer to home in the stillbirth Saturday of precious little H., daughter of dear young colleagues of ours. (Her parents had known for four and a half months that she would only live briefly if at all.)

Still

Hide me now
Under your wings.
Cover me
Within your mighty hand.

(Chorus)
When the oceans rise and thunders roar,
I will soar with you above the storm.
Father, You are King over the flood.
I will be still and know You are God.

Find rest my soul
In Christ alone.
Know His power
In quietness and trust.

(Repeat chorus.)
