Annual Fall Saga

We love our yard, but the downside is the enormous number of leaves to be raked each fall. Our solution? Give a generous donation to the Ohio IVCF fall conference scholarship fund for WCF students--something we'd do anyhow and something many students need--and in return some of them will rake the leaves. We had to find a narrow window without rain or threatening snow this year. Tuesday night, as it got darker and darker, was it. Here are before, during and after shots.

I meant to add a picture of the hot chocolate I'd fixed for them. Oh, well. Five fellows and one gal got the whole yard done in just under an hour! No sign of the groundhog, but we did have at least one work horse. One of the fellows didn't drag the tarp to the front; he hoisted it on his shoulders and carried it (a companion coming along behind to hold the other end closed). The leaf truck should come Monday to vacuum up the piles in our neighborhood.

Oops, something went wrong to make the pictures come out on top of each other. That didn't happen with my multiple pictures before....I'm still learning. Sigh.

ugh, Blogger code is increasingly non-user friendly. Google basically stopped working on improving Blogger about 3 years ago and it's showing.

    Anyway, it's fixed now.

Wow! Now that is a whole lot of leaves. What happens if a mighty wind blows those babies around before the leaf sucker truck arrives on Monday? Though with the looks of your weather, those very wet leaves aren't going anywhere.

Thanks, Ellen. And, Deb, you're right. They're not going anywhere. What worries me is that another significant amount have fallen from one of the huge oaks in the back and the pear is dropping its leaves now in the front. Will the weather allow us to get them into the pile....AND will our neighbor to the west rake his leaves (no sign of that yet) or will they blow into our yard all winter long???
